MAKATI CITY, Philippines—After last month’s announcement of a new team who will represent the Philippines in the Mrs. Asia Pacific pageant, the Mrs. Queen of Hearts Philippines pageant confirms three new title assignments.

Ma. Glovel Tasico, who was crowned Mrs. Philippines Asia Pacific-Intercontinental in October last year, now holds the Mrs. Philippines Global Universe title and will be the lone Filipino delegate in the Mrs. Global Universe pageant in Singapore in September.

Her previous title was awarded to Ivy Diana Manzon-Bo, whose former crown as Mrs. Queen of Hearts Tourism did not come with an international assignment.

Joana Krisanta La Madrid, who turned over her Mrs. Philippines Asia Pacific-Tourism crown to Rosenda Casaje, will now represent the country in the Mrs. Worldwide pageant in Singapore in August.

Casaje, who finished in the Top 10 and received the “Mrs. Empowerment Woman” award in the 2020 Mrs. Global Universe contest, now gets another chance to represent the Philippines abroad.

Sarima Paglas, who was proclaimed Mrs. Philippines Asia Pacific-Cosmopolitan in October, will join La Madrid in the Mrs. Worldwide pageant as the representative of Southeast Asia.

Her former crown was awarded to Mrs. Queen of Hearts Philippines Catherine Jordas Flores last month.

But before Tasico, La Madrid, and Paglas find action overseas in the second half of the year, the Philippines’ delegation to the Mrs. Asia Pacific pageant will fly to Singapore in May.

Joining Manzon-Bo, Casaje, and Flores are Mrs. Philippines Asia Pacific-Global Louise Suzanne Alba-Lopez and Mrs. Philippines Asia Pacific-All Nations Darling Topacio-Edralin, who both retained the national titles they won last October.

Mrs. Queen of Hearts Foundation CEO Mitzie Go-Gil confirmed the competition schedule with the Inquirer in an online interview.

“Good luck to all of you. We’ll pray for you to win the pageants, bring home the crowns, and make every Filipino proud. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, so you have to do your best,” she also said.

But one queen has yet to receive a new title. Annette Mendoza bagged the Mrs. Philippines Worldwide crown in October last year, but La Madrid now holds it.

Go-Gil said she already has a new title for Mendoza and “will make a public announcement later.”

After a string of charity projects that saw them providing relief to those affected by the pandemic in different parts of the country last year, the Mrs. Queen of Hearts Philippines pageant, through the MMG Queen of Hearts Foundation, kicked off 2021 with more relief missions.

Last month, the foundation and the queens trekked to a remote village in Antipolo City to bring aid to a Dumagat community.

Earlier this month, they brought aid to Baseco Compound residents in Manila and threw an early Valentine’s Day surprise at the Tahanan ng Pagmamahal Children’s Home in Pasig City.

Several other relief missions have already been scheduled throughout the year.

Go-Gil also announced the screening of applicants for the Miss and Mrs. Queen of Hearts pageants next month.

The Miss Queen of Hearts Philippines pageant, which will select the country’s representatives to the Miss Lumiere International World, Miss Worldwide, and Miss Global Universe competitions, is tentatively scheduled in May, while the Mrs. Queen of Hearts Philippines pageant will take place in October.
