Actress and TV host Camille Prats was able to accomplish reading the Bible consistently last year and is now making it a habit for her entire family.
Prats feels she has become closer to God after starting this habit, as can be seen in her Instagram post today, Feb. 24, where she shared with her followers a book called “The Bible in 52 Weeks” and a photo of her family.
“Last year, I decided to make it a habit to read the [Bible] using a [52-week] plan. I studied, read, contemplated and reflected on His [Word] and slowly, it felt like every morning spent reading His word brings me closer and closer to Him,” she said in her post.
“I have been a Christian for 8 years now, but only when I started spending alone, uninterrupted time with Him ([it’s 5 a.m.] and the kids are asleep) was when I began feeling closer and closer to Him. Closer than I have ever felt all my life,” she noted.
Sharing God’s Word to their children comes easy for her and her husband VJ Yambao because of their relationship with the Lord.
“Whenever Nathan has questions, I can somehow answer them and if I don’t know what to say, I go back to reading once again,” Prats said.
Easily, praying has become a habit for the Yambaos as they spend a great deal of their time reading the Bible.
“Every mealtime we pray, every morning my husband and I spend some alone time reading the [Bible], we do our couple’s devotions mid-morning, family devotions with our kids before bedtime. [Mealtimes] are comprised of stories, laughter and worship songs,” Prats shared, noting that she wants her kids to learn stories about God not only when they pray.
“My goal is to make talking about Him the most normal thing in our household,” she said.
Prats even shared a [Bible] verse, Deuteronomy 6:6-7 NLT, which reads: “And you must commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these commands that I am giving you today. Repeat them again and again to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up.”
“Ngayon mas naiintindihan ko na (Now, I understand more) the true meaning of ‘Seek Him and you will find Him,’” she said, encouraging her followers to start getting to know God as it’ll “only take you 15 mins a day to study and reflect on His Word.”
Prats is part of the evangelical church Christ’s Commission Fellowship. NVG
