Veteran actress Cherry Pie Picache remembered how she survived her battle with COVID-19 and pneumonia. For her, “it was a difficult three weeks.”

“Noong una, wala akong masyadong nararamdaman (At first, I hardly felt anything) but as the days went on, it was very difficult,” she said during the online press conference for “Walang Hanggang Paalam” on Monday, April 12.

“Masakit sa katawan, sa ulo, sa lahat. Nag-develop din ako into pneumonia,” the actress recalled. (I had bodily pains, headaches, pain all over. I also developed pneumonia.)

But after three weeks, Picache believes she got miraculously healed through her faith.

“Fr. Pio, my Divine Healer Jesus and my Mama Mary, hindi ako pinabayaan. With all the pneumonia and everything, I wasn’t hospitalized. Naka-monitor ako with my doctors,” she said. (Fr. Pio, my Divine Healer Jesus and my Mama Mary, they did not forsake me. With all the pneumonia and everything, I wasn’t hospitalized. I was monitored by my doctors.)

Picache did not take any medicine during her bout and all that she was required was to strengthen her immune system by doing breathing exercises. During those times, Picache just hold on to her faith.

“Wala ka talagang kakapitan. Sa lahat naman ng nangyayari sa atin ay wala ka naman talagang kakapitan kundi ang Diyos,” she pointed out. (There’s nothing to cling to. With all that’s happening to us, there’s nothing that you can hold on to except God.)

Even though she has successfully battled COVID-19, Picache is still in the process of nourishing herself.

“Hanggang ngayon ay nagpapalakas pa, parang hindi pa nasa normal ‘yung katawan talaga, talagang dapat palakasin. Siyempre, tuloy ang buhay. You have to continuously prepare when you got out kasi lumalabas pa rin tayo,” she said.

(Until now I am strengthening my body, it isn’t normal yet, I really need to be stronger. Of course, life must go on. You have to continuously prepare when you go out, because we really go out.)

In the series, Picache is Amelia, a strong-willed surgeon who is the sister of Zanjoe Marudo’s Anton character.

“Walang Hanggang Paalam: Against All Odds” will have its finale this week and can be viewed from the following: Kapamilya Channel, A2Z, TV5, Kapamilya Online Live’s YouTube channel, ABS-CBN Entertainment Facebook page and iWantTFC. For viewers outside of the Philippines, catch it on The Filipino Channel on cable and IPTV. JB
