Actress Sheena Halili understands the importance of breast milk in the growth and nourishment of babies, which is why she’s donating hers to a baby in need.
Halili spoke about the reason why she has decided to donate her breast milk to a baby with a genetic disorder as per her Instagram post yesterday, April 13.
“Finally, my breast milk is on the way to Baby Alyssa who has Trisomy 18 or called the ‘Edwards Syndrome,’” she said as she posted a photo of herself with her own child, Martina Nicole.
Edwards’ syndrome, also known as trisomy 18, is a rare but serious condition that affects how long a baby may survive. According to the National Health Service of the United Kingdom, “[a] baby with Edwards’ syndrome has 3 copies of chromosome number 18 instead of 2; [this] affects the way the baby grows and develops.”
“I am posting this para ma-encourage ang kapwa ko na mommies na may over supply ng breastmilk, like me, to donate to babies na super nangangailangan. Lalong lalo na yung mga babies o mommies na may sakit,” she said.
(I am posting this to encourage fellow mommies who have an oversupply of breast milk like me to donate to babies who badly need them. More so to babies or mommies who are sick.)

“Marami pong nangangailangan ng tulong ngayon tulad ng mga COVID Patients na mommies. May mga mommies na din that passed away and daddies nalang ang nagaaalaga sa babies nila at nangangailangan ng milk,” she added.
(There are many who need help now like mommies who are COVID-19 patients. There are mommies who passed away and daddies are the only ones left to take care of their babies who need milk.)
The actress admits she is so attached to her breast milk because it is the product of her “patience, efforts, and love.”
“Kaya’t niyakap ko pa bago ko ito pinamigay,” she shared. (I even hugged it before I give it away.)
As she gave her milk to one Baby Alyssa who has Edwards’ syndrome, Halili hopes that her milk will strengthen the infant.
Halili, married to lawyer Jeron Manzanero, gave birth to her own daughter in December last year. JB
