Celebrity mompreneur Neri Naig and musician Chito Miranda were spotted not wearing their wedding rings during a recent pictorial to announce their having a second baby, causing some fans to get curious.
Naig thus took it upon herself to explain why, as seen on her Instagram page today, May 16.
“Bakit hindi suot ni Chito ang wedding ring niya? Ayaw niya bang suotin? Para makachicks pa?” she asked in jest. (Why is Chito not wearing his wedding ring? Does he not want to wear it? So he can womanize?)
Naig then revealed that she herself has not worn her wedding ring for about more than five years now, and for a very valid reason.
“Hindi na sya kasya! Lumaki talaga ako simula nung nagbuntis ako. Gustuhin ko man, ayaw kong maging purple ang daliri ko, haha!” she said.
(It doesn’t fit anymore. I grew big when I got pregnant. Even if I want to [still wear it], I don’t want my finger to turn purple [laughs].)

Luckily, she can still wear her engagement ring because it was loose before they got married, and it now fits her finger.
“Pero hindi ko rin nasusuot palagi ang engagement ring kase natatakot akong mawala,” she noted. (But I still don’t get to wear my engagement ring often because I’m afraid I might lose it.)
Naig added that Miranda used to wear his wedding ring but always leaves it on the sink whenever he washes his hands, wherever he goes. It bears a diamond and she worries that it might get lost. With that, she just advised her husband not to wear it anymore.
“Hindi naman ako sensitive kung may singsing syang suot. Aba’y alam naman ng lahat na kasal kami at may pamilya na siya,” she explained. (I am not sensitive about him wearing a ring. Everyone knows that we are married and that he already has a family.)
While she acknowledges that a ring is a symbol of commitment, Naig prefers that her husband just remains committed to his family and be a responsible husband and father, instead of being someone who wears his ring but has forgotten his commitment to his family.
“Aanhin mo naman ang singsing kung pinapaiyak ka naman araw-araw? Tandaan, wala yan sa singsing, nasa tao yan,” she said. (What’s the use of a ring if you are just being made to cry everyday? Remember, it’s not about the ring, it’s about the person.) JB
