Alice Dixson’s new life as a mother is seeing her having a newfound appreciation of her own departed mother, as she recalled her mom’s life and its parallels to her own motherhood.
“Remembering my mom as I am now a mom,” she said in her Instagram page today, May 19, where she shared with fans a series of photos of her baby and her mother. Last month, Dixson announced via Instagram as well that she has become a mom by showing a photo of the footprints of her baby.
But today, she recalled the stories told by her mom about the difficulty of their life in the past, of how she and her siblings were able to make both ends meet by selling halo-halo and fish, and cutting hair.
“My mom was strong, business-minded, beautiful [and] sexy,” Dixon said as she noted he mom’s figure. “She wore her hair short [and] her [two] front teeth gold-rimmed, walang sinabi ang mga (nothing can be said by the) rappers sa kanya (on her). She was known to all as mommy, [aunt and sister] Coring,” she added.

Dixson estimates that her mom was around 33 when she met her father, and she was already 37 when she gave birth to Dixson, while her dad was 43.
“During those times in the mid 60s, those ages were [already a bit late to start] a family – but they persevered because they wanted so much to have a child together. [There are] parallelisms [in our] motherhood journeys,” she recalled.
Dixson was told that her mom did everything to get pregnant, including hilot, along with dancing at the Obando fertility rites. It all paid off and she was conceived as a “menopause baby.”
“My 1st Mother’s Day passed [and] thought of how we celebrated for her,” she said. “Ngayon ko [lang] talaga na appreciate at naramdaman ang sacrifices nya, all the love.” (It’s just now that I appreciate and feel her sacrifices, all the love.)
“And even if she didn’t get to meet her 8th [grandchild] in person, I know she’s watching over our little family. Whatever I am today it’s because of you,” Dixson said. “I hope to pass all the best qualities to my daughter.” JB
