Why You Should Include this Face Powder in Your Makeup Kit | Lifestyle.INQ

Face powder can be tricky. Some have great color but don’t last long. Others don’t sit well on top of other makeup items or even just sunblock. Others can be cumbersome with their packaging and might create a mess in your bag.

I chanced upon the Celeteque Dermocosmetics CC Micro-Hydrating Powder on a bad day. I didn’t have my concealer nor did my regular powder foundation have the coverage I needed. I tried out the product, not knowing what to expect and uncovered a gem.

Opening the package surprised me as it has an auto-grinder. Instead of just loose powder going everywhere through the dispenser, you have to rotate the top of the lid. It grinds through the powder block to give you just exactly the amount you need. Genius. Upon application, there was medium coverage.

On top of dry skin, it applies smoothly. It doesn’t ball up into tiny bumps on your face when applied on top of moisturizer. I used it to set my under-eye concealer and it did a good job. I think it even lasted longer than my usual translucent setting powder. Right now, it’s taken over my makeup kit as my go-to powder for touch-ups or hurried makeup looks in the back of the car. If you’re just looking to cover up a few spots or to hide slight discoloration, this is a good product for that.

The shade range could use a little work though. There are just three shades out in the market currently: light porcelain, classic neutral, and deep beige. I’m using the deep beige one and with a heavy hand, it can be a tad bit too orange even on morena skin.

As for the skincare benefits, I like the fact that it contains hyaluronic acid, an effective moisturizer that helps skin stay youthful. There is also some Vitamin E in the mix to help you glow a little. Despite this, it doesn’t make me too oily but neither does it leave me looking too matte. It’s just right, as a popular children’s tale would put it.

In terms of longevity, you have to re-apply depending on how long your day is and if you have extra coverage underneath. As mentioned, it works as a setting powder and perhaps can correct your liquid or cream foundation if it’s a shade off. On its own, you just have to observe how your skin is. If it’s oily, this will be a good choice, and for dry to combination skin, it’s still best to place it over your regular moisturizer after it dries.

At P930, it’s not a bad price for 10 grams. The packaging may be a bit bulky but given the logic behind the dispenser, it’s a fair trade off. When in a pinch or if you’re looking for the right powder for a natural, low-maintenance look, I would suggest to reach for this during your next makeup haul.
