Actress Nikki Valdez is so open when it comes to her daughter. They talk about practically everything and trust each other. It should not come as a surprise therefore that she expresses full support for whatever her daughter’s choices would be in life.

When Valdez was asked about what her views would be if she had a gay child, during the online press conference for “Love Beneath The Stars” last Aug. 9, she stated the same sentiment of support. She costars with Keann Johnson and Adrian Lindayag in the series which started streaming on iWantTFC yesterday, Aug. 16. It is about two young men who fall in love.

“In my 24 years, I have been exposed to the LGBTQ+ community. All my life ay nakapaligid sila sa amin (they surround us). They are very happy people. Love is universal so who are [we] to choose for other people?” she pointed out.

Valdez also shared that recently, he daughter asked her something about sexuality which she does not know about.

“At the age of 13, she has recently asked me what is being a pansexual about. So ako, sa totoo lang, hindi ko alam ang isasagot ko kasi hindi ko alam (So as for me, the truth is I don’t know how to answer it, because I just don’t know),” Valdez shared.

What she is sure about is each person’s right to be true to one’s self. With that, she has a message for those who will be watching their series.

“We are entitled to [show] how we truly feel about someone,” she said, while stressing the importance of self-respect and respect of others. JB
