In support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, TV host and news anchor Iya Villania is encouraging women to have themselves tested.

Villania expressed concern over the growing number of women afflicted with breast cancer, as per her Instagram page yesterday, Oct. 12, where she shared a throwback photo of herself together with a friend who seems to be checking on her breast.

“Self check or in this case, friend check, whichever you choose, just make sure to get checked,” she said. The photo was taken in 2018 when she was about four to five months pregnant with her son Leon.

“This #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth, we encourage women of all ages to be more conscious about their health. I know things can get busy, but pleeeease make time to check yourself and get tested especially when there are 3/100 Filipinas who are diagnosed every year, making it the no. 1 diagnosis across Asian countries,” she stressed.

Villania reminded fans that “early detections can save lives” and enjoined women to join “TheBoobment”: “[Do] a simultaneous self-check along with thousands of women at Avon Philippines’ FB page on October 21, 6pm.”

She also provided details on how people can donate “to help the cause, in behalf of the breast cancer patients and the Philippine Cancer Society.”

Married to TV host Drew Arellano, Villania has three children, Primo, Leon and Alana. JB
