It pays to have a pastry chef for a best friend. This holds true for actress Carla Abellana who relied heavily on her best friend’s assistance on her wedding to actor Tom Rodriguez.
Abellana expressed how grateful she is to her chef-friend who honored his promise to make her a wedding cake, as seen in her Instagram page yesterday, Nov. 3, where she shared with fans photos of her towering, multi-layered wedding cake.
“My Best Friend, who also happens to be a multi-award winning Pastry Chef, was behind our WEDDING CAKE,” Abellana said. “Despite having migrated to Sydney years earlier, we still managed to fulfill our promise to each other that [he] would make my Wedding Cake.”

Abellana was referring to none other than celebrity chef and pastry expert, chef Miko Aspiras, whom she also tagged in her post.
Aspiras, Abellana revealed, was supposed to be her “Man of Honor.” But due to pandemic constraints, he was not able to fly to Manila for the wedding.
“The details, including the floral toppers, were made with so much love by Miko and his Partner, JV, which were then flown in straight from Sydney,” the happy bride further shared. “Many thanks to @chicoorcine_ for the sumptuous Vanilla with Lemon Curd Buttercream cake base that I wish we could’ve brought home to savor. We love you, Miko and JV! THANK YOU.”
Abellana and Rodriguez got married on Oct. 23 at the San Juan Nepomuceno Church in San Juan, Batangas. JB
