Former child actor Igi Boy Flores sees no harm in playing an elder brother to today’s younger generation of stars. He actually welcomes it happily.

“Sobrang fulfilling noon kasi sa mga past series na nagawa ko, ang mga nakasama ko are love teams rin generation namin like KathNiel, LizQuen, JoshLia. So, nakakatuwa lang na ngayon pati ‘yung mga generation ng love teams ay nakakasama na rin ako pero not as a friend or best friend pero as a kuya na,” Flores said during the online press conference for the film “Love At First Stream,” last Tuesday, Dec. 14.

(It is fulfilling because in the series that I did in the past, I was with the love teams of our generation, like KathNiel, LizQuen, JoshLia. I am happy that I get to work with the generation of love teams today, not as a friend or best friend, but this time as an elder brother.)

In the movie, Flores plays elder brother to newcomer Daniela Stranner.

“Isa lang ang lagi kong ginagawa doon, magbalot ng bawang. ‘Yun lang. All the rest na gagawin ko sa bahay, kunwari hirap na hirap na si Daniela, sa mga ring lights niya and everything, hindi ako gagalaw hangga’t ‘di siya humihingi ng tulong sa akin. As in napakatamad ko lang sa pelikulang ito,”he narrated.

(There’s only one thing that I do there, to repack garlic. That’s it. All the rest that I do in the house, like when Daniela has a hard time with her ring lights and everything, I don’t move until she asks for help. As in I am so lazy in this film.)

But on serious matters, Flores’ character does help his sister, when she needs emotional support and guidance from an elder brother, especially since in the film, theirs is a family of mostly women.

“Kailangan n’yo ring makarinig ng advice ng man. Kapag kailangan iyon ng sister ko, ibinibigay ko naman’yun. Nandoon ako to guide her sa lahat,” he said.

(You also need to hear the advice of a man. When my sister needs it, I give it. I am there to guide her in everything.)

“Love At First Stream” starring Kaori Oinuma, Daniela Stranner, Anthony Jennings and Jeremiah Lisbo is opening on Dec. 25 as part of the Metro Manila Film Festival. JB
