Here’s your chance to study in Hungary for free

OCTOBER 27, 2022

Hungary is a picturesque country in Europe. When we think of Hungary, its capital Budapest and stories about vampires as well as Hungarian sausages come to mind. This country is not just a place for architectural and natural wonders, but they’re also known for the rich history of educational institutions—they have some of the oldest and top institutions in the world, the highest number of scientific Nobel Prize winners, and great minds that invented things like Vitamin C and the Rubik’s cube.

Now, you have a chance to live and study in Hungary for free.

The Embassy of Hungary just opened the applications for Stipendium Hungaricum for the academic year 2019-2020. From this pool of applicants, the Hungarian embassy would choose 35 Filipino students to study a full degree program there.

Applicants may choose among 415 programs. Whether you’re up for another undergraduate degree or a graduate program, the programs you can choose can vary from architecture, cultural heritage, agriculture, medicine, water management engineering, natural sciences, environmental sciences, and medicine. Meanwhile, chosen students may also choose among 27 institutions including Budapest University of Technology and Economics, one of the oldest institute of technology in the world where Erno Rubik, the inventor of the Rubik’s cube, studied.

Can I just reiterate that this is for free? Aside from the tuition fee, the Hungarian Government will also take care of your application and visa fees, health insurance, monthly stipend, and housing. If that doesn’t appeal to you yet, I don’t know what will. Their well-developed transit system, maybe?

The duration of study varies from two to four years, but please remember to go back here and serve the Filipinos once you’re done with your studies.

Interested individuals may apply for the Stipendium Hungaricum until Jan. 15, 2019.
