As a mom, soul singer Kyla is very thrifty and selective when it comes to buying things. But this changes when she travels, because that is where she becomes very lenient in her spending.

Kyla recalled the times when she would keep from spending too much on gadgets, as per her Instagram post yesterday, Jan. 15, where she showed three photos of herself and her family while in the famous Eiffel Tower in Paris, France.

“My husband and I are very frugal, especially when it comes to buying things. I mean, I’m still using my old mini iPad and waiting for my iPhone10 to break so I can buy a new one. Ayoko pa bumili (I don’t want to buy yet). Hehehe,” she said.

That is also true when it comes to their son, Toby.

“We don’t buy our son too many toys. Except for when it’s Christmas and when it’s his birthday. Most of his toys were given by his grandparents. Sila talaga ang taga-spoil ng mga bata (They are really the ones spoiling the kids),” she noted.

But when it comes to having holidays abroad, Kyla and her husband, professional basketball coach Rich Alvarez, are all out in spending because they are committed to giving their son the best possible travel experiences.

Kyla thinks that travel helps bring out so many values like “patience, humility, letting go of schedules and just being spontaneous.” She also considers memories from travels as extra special particularly during these times when people cannot just go anywhere due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“I have been feeling so bad the last [two] years that we haven’t gone out of the country like we always did every Christmas and whenever our schedule allows us to go. I think I’ve expressed that so many times in some of my posts. Nakaka-miss lang talaga (I really miss it),” she said, noting that Paris is always their family’s point of entry because they find it is easy to get a visa for that.

The singer promised to travel again when it is already safe and when they are already allowed to get visas. She even asked fans and followers on Instagram if it is easy to get a visa now.

She also hopes that the latest COVID-19 variant would be the last to hit the country.

“Anyway, sana last na tong Omicron. Sawang-sawa na ko sa covid. LOL. Ang dami kong sinabi, gusto ko lang naman mag throwback,” she quipped.

(Anyway, I hope this Omicron [variant] is the last. I am so fed up with COVID-19. I said so many things when I just want to do a throwback.) JB
