Actress and vlogger Rica Peralejo credits her mobility exercises for her endurance when she went mountain hiking recently in Nasugbu, Batangas.

Peralejo recalled her mountain climbing journey at Mt. Kaytalang, in her Instagram page yesterday, Feb. 2, sharing with her fans a series of photos from the trip with her family.

“We hiked another mountain today! Which is about 2.78 [kilometers] long, with a [299-meter] elevation gain. I took it in 1 [hour and] 20 [minutes] — could’ve been shorter if I was not carrying a sleeping baby on my back about 30 [pounds] heavy,” she said. “(One way pa lang yan, meron pa pababa, so total of 2.5 [hours] walk for [5-plus kilometers]).”

(That’s just one way, there’s still the downhill, so that’s a total of 2.5 hours of walking for 5-plus kilometers.)

“But here is the aha moment. I was not tired at all. As in. Could not believe it so I kept thinking whyyyy. I am so shocked [at] myself,” she said.

Later, she figured that it could be because of the strength training and mobility exercises she learned from a prescribed rehab for her injured heel. She has been climbing since 2012 yet she “never felt this strong.”

Peralejo recalled that she was not in her best element when she did mountain climbing in the past.

“I kept thinking on the trail that all the hikes I’ve done prior mobility training was really just me winging it with no proper and thinking movements as I pursued difficult terrains,” she said.

Peralejo, who is celebrating her birthday soon, is simply “floored” by her experience, as she asked, “I turn 41 next month and yet this is the strongest I’ve felt all my life. Like how?” JB
