Celebrity Toni Gonzaga admits she’s no techie. She does not upgrade her gadgets every time new models come out. She hardly downloads apps and and does not read e-books.
However, she links electronics to fashion. To her, a cellphone has a special purpose: online shopping.
Using her Samsung Champ Deluxe, the newest touch-screen phone and the latest in the Champ line of affordable and sleek units from the Korean electronics giant, Gonzaga updates her shoe collection “once a month, or every other month.”
Gonzaga said her tech needs are basic: call, text and surf. She uses the Dramapic app for photo editing and enjoys games like Angry Birds.
“I got hooked on Angry Birds before, until I realized I’d rather read because I host, and I want to make sense.” She regularly visits People.com, Yahoo! News and ABS-CBN.com to keep herself updated.
She has no Twitter or Facebook account. She explained she wants to keep her thoughts to herself and instead reaches out to her followers through her live shows.
The Samsung Champ Deluxe covers her communication needs with its dual-SIM feature which allows the use of two numbers. The smooth design and chic metallic finish go well with any outfit, too.
Samsung Champ Deluxe was recently launched at the Draft Gastropub in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.
Basic Android phone
Coco Domingo, Samsung product manager and head for mobile phones, pointed out how the user-friendly Champ Deluxe suits in particular the needs of young people who want a basic touch-screen, Internet-ready Android phone. Android is an operating system that lets users download free and paid apps, from games to calorie counters.
“Samsung is almost synonymous with Android,” said Domingo. “We offer mobile-phone choices, from the high-end to the entry-level, all made with the same technology and quality the brand is known for.”
Among the Champ Deluxe’s features are the 2.8-inch screen, 1.3-megapixel camera with 2x digital zoom, Bluetooth connectivity, video recording and playback, FM radio, built-in music player. It comes with a 20MB user memory, which is expandable up to 16GB. Price is P4,190.
It also has the ChatOn instant messaging app, a multi-platform messenger exclusive to Samsung phones that lets you communicate with other users who are using different phone brands and models.
Online shopping
The Champ Deluxe is a multi-tasker, pretty much like Gonzaga who sings and acts, hosts shows and endorses products.
“Grab all opportunities, mahirap ang buhay ngayon! (Times are hard!),” she said, laughing. “Then you can buy more shoes.”
While the TV and movie personality entrusts her clothes choices to her stylists Liz Uy and AJ Alberto, she is meticulous about shoes. She loves stilettos and platforms because they highlight her long legs.
“I am not particular about clothing brands. As long I am comfortable and confident in them, I wear them, but I personally buy my shoes,” she said. “Stilettos emphasize my assets. You should always capitalize on your assets.”
The 28-year-old celebrity’s toned and shapely legs especially look good on Christian Louboutins and other designer shoes, which she sources via shopping sites www.net-a-porter.com and www.luisaviaroma.com.
Online shopping is convenient and practical, she said, especially with her hectic schedule. She hosts the “Pinoy Big Brother” reality show and “The Buzz” celebrity talk show on ABS-CBN. Online shopping, too, is more convenient with her Samsung Champ Deluxe.
