Things are heating up in the Philippines, and we mean both the weather and the lead-up to the elections.
If you need to cool off, there’s no more delicious way to do so than with ice cream.
Here are some hot picks:
Merry Moo x Lola Nena’s Triple Cheese Donut Ice Cream
Lola Nena’s Triple Cheese Donut, which became a pandemic obsession for many, is now available in ice cream form, thanks to their collaboration with Merry Moo. We had no doubt Merry Moo would do the famous doughnut justice, after all, they’re the makers of our favorite cheesy mamon ice cream. Dig into the doughnut ice cream base and enjoy the cheese bits and doughnut chunks. Eat the ice cream on its own or eat it atop a Triple Cheese Donut. Heat the doughnut first so the sugar coating caramelizes for maximum goodness. Buy the Triple Cheese Donut Ice Cream at select Lola Nena’s branches and merrymooicecream.com but it sells out fast each time they restock so you need to be fast. Sebastian’s Poppits in a Pint
We love Sebastian’s Poppits—hand-scooped bite-sized ice cream nuggets that are coated with chocolate. They’re called Poppits because that’s exactly what you do: Pop them in your mouth, no spoon needed! Now, they’re available in pints. Each pint has 14 Poppits in an earth-friendly and biodegradable container. Get Vanilla Poppits (vanilla ice cream in a milk chocolate shell), Dark Chocolate (dark chocolate ice cream in a bittersweet chocolate shell), Cookies n’ Creme (cookies n’ creme ice cream in a white chocolate shell with Oreo crumble), Hazelnut Crunch (hazelnut spread ice cream in a milk chocolate shell with Oreo crumble), Oreo Mint (peppermint ice cream in a mint chocolate shell with Oreo crumble), Buzz Balls (cold brew coffee ice made from a custom Sagada bean roast by SGD Coffee in a mocha chocolate shell) and Bubblegum (bubblegum ice cream in a white chocolate shell). We enjoy them all but we love Bubblegum the most because it reminds us of Coney Island ice cream, plus they’re pink! You can also go for the Party Mix Pint which contains all seven flavors. Crem Gelato’s Mystery Flavors
Crem Gelato is always coming up with new flavors and they wanted to involve their fans in the process. Thus the introduction of Mystery Flavors. “They are random conceptual and test flavors. We try lots of flavor combinations often and we thought of selling these at a much lower price so curious customers can try, give us feedback and be a part each creation,” said Shiela Frac, Crem Gelato’s cofounder.
Previous Mystery Flavors have been introduced as new flavors like Honeycomb Pecorino and Amarena French Vanilla. Order a Mystery Flavor (at P250, they’re super affordable) or try some of Crem’s new flavors like Double Peanut Butter, Fragola E Crema or Gianduia Fudge. Don’t miss out on the classics, too like Messy Chocolate, Caramel Bronzato and Pistachio Praline. They’re all good. Trust us, you can’t go wrong with Crem. (cremgelato.com)
Dairy Queen’s Box of Dilly Bars
We blame (and thank) our mother for this. She stocked our freezer with Dilly Bars and everyone in the family enjoyed them. A Dilly Bar is Dairy Queen’s soft serve on a stick. They flash-freeze it before coating it with chocolate. Dairy Queen stores all over the world have been serving this since 1955.

Yes, you read that right.
Bonner Dytoc and his wife Irene’s ice cream journey began in 2008 when she bought a KitchenAid mixer. It came with an ice cream bowl attachment and they tried making a batch. “The quality was so much better than store-bought ice cream that I started thinking, there’s potential here,” said Bonner.
Soon, they introduced their brand Jack Frost. Their first flavor was Basil which has been an all-time bestseller. Other favorites include Silky Amber, Butterbrew (inspired by Harry Potter), the Cheesecake series, Energo, Morning Rush (coffee with candied bacon) and Raspberetto.
The Dytocs find inspiration everywhere. Orange Rosemary was inspired by the chicken dish, Nuts & Roses by an episode of Masterchef Junior. Taba ng Talangka (or TNT), which Bonner calls their “most outrageous flavor yet,” happened because their taba ng talangka supplier and fellow Let’s Eat Pare vendor said that someone tried making taba ng talangka ice cream but it didn’t pan out. Bonner took that as a challenge. “This was my chance to come up with another wild flavor,” he told Lifestyle.
Jack Frost’s tagline is “If you think you know ice cream, you don’t know jack.”
And with TNT, they once again push the boundaries of what can be turned into ice cream. It’s sweet, creamy, with an undeniable taba ng talangka flavor that you’d want to savor.
It’s a unique ice cream experience for sure.
They need a lead time of two days because they make your ice cream fresh.
