Actor JC de Vera signed up with ABS-CBN for a contract today and promised not to leave the network which has been his home for seven years.
De Vera said he is willing to sacrifice two more years after “two years of uncertainty” as can be seen in his Instagram page today, March 24, sharing photos and videos of the contract signing.
“Each Kapamilya went through a lot of challenging times: walang pirmahan ng kontrata (no contract signing). So what’s next for us?” he initially said in his post.
The actor is ready for the worst case scenario but is still hopeful that the situation will change for the better.
“I silently prepared myself for the worst thinking that this may be the end of my career but I still remained hopeful that this situation is only temporary,” he said, stating that “my faith and loyalty is with ABS CBN.”
“Sinamahan ko sila sa [two] years na hirap and pagtitiis. Ano ba naman yung [two] years na kaya ko i-sacrifice sa [seven] years na tiwala na binigay nila sa akin,” he said.
(I was with them for two years of hardships. What’s another two years I can sacrifice compared to the seven years of trust that they gave me?)
“Sabay-sabay ulit kami aahon,” he stressed. (We will all rise again together.)
“Slowly we are working to have our normal lives back, na makapagbigay ng kaligayahan at entertainment sa madlang people (to give happiness and entertainment to the public),” he said while expressing his gratitude to his ABS-CBN family, manager, and wife and daughter.
“Tuloy ang laban! We’ll move forward!” he said. “Sa hirap at ginhawa! Andito tayo para sa isa’t isa.” (The fight continues… In hardships and prosperity. We are here for each other.)
ABS-CBN was denied by Congress a franchise renewal in 2020. Amid an exodus of its talents who were forced to transfer to other networks, De Vera was one of those who stayed on. JB
