His name may be Prince but when it comes to cosplay, he’s king.

Prince de Guzman’s most recent transformation? Morbius, just in time for the release of the Marvel film starring Jared Leto.

“His character is very iconic for me,” said De Guzman. “I got excited when they finally brought him into the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) because I am always interested to see what Morbius would look like in live action.”

De Guzman had yet to watch the film when he decided to turn himself into the “Living Vampire,” taking inspiration from Leto’s version of the character. “The makeup and CGI (computer-generated images) look great and I think Jared Leto will give justice to the character.”

De Guzman, whose most memorable cosplays include Pennywise, Gunzo the Clown from Call of Duty Mobile and Pinhead from Hellraiser, took his transformation into Morbius seriously.

“I worked out for more than a month to get fit for the cosplay. I went from Doctor Oc to Morbius so I adjust my body talaga to my cosplays.”

De Guzman did everything himself—from sculpting the prosthetics and applying them. “I did the full make up for four hours. I am so proud to cosplay Morbius using practical special effects.”

Cosplays that need heavy prosthetics require a lot of patience, he said. “It was very challenging because in the film, Jared Leto’s character was mostly CGI and I did my best to translate it in practical effects.”

His playlist while doing his makeup? A mix of Marilyn Manson, Lady Gaga and Ghost.

De Guzman has more cosplays planned. “I have been watching more anime lately and I am working out and doing my best to achieve an Uzui Tengen cosplay and Genshin Impact NPCs (nonplayable characters).”

He’s also eager to do The Joker from “The Batman” after seeing the deleted scene.

His advice for aspiring cosplayers? “Enjoy what you do. Cosplay characters that make you happy. Put your happiness first. Cosplaying for profession and business is a different topic but whether you want to cosplay for fun or as a content creator, fun and self-satisfaction will always be the basics.”
