McCoy de Leon feels that he and partner, fellow actor Elisse Joson, are dealing with parenting just fine and have no need to make major adjustments in the way they are raising their daughter Felize.

“Expected naman na merong hard times, merong pagsubok. Pero ang importante ay ‘yung journey namin, ‘yung progress niya while growing up. Ang saya ma-witness ‘yun plus the memories with her. Wala kaming halos hirap. Pero gusto naming mahirapan para matuto kami,” he said during the online press conference for their movie “Habangbuhay,” last April 18.

(We expect that there would be hard times and challenges. But what is important is our journey, our child’s progress while growing up. It is fun to witness that, plus savor the memories [we make] with her. We hardly encountered difficulty. But we prefer to have difficulty so we would learn.)

In “Habangbuhay,” De Leon plays a houseboy, JR, who falls in love with Joson’s Bea character. It must have been a blessing to work alongside his partner, but would he prefer to work with other actresses?

“Kapag may project na mabibigay, palagi naman po dapat may bago. Mas priority naming ‘yung content saka na ‘yung kung sino ang makakasama,” he explained.

(When there is a project given, it should always have something new. Content is what we prioritize more; who we would work with is just secondary.)

But the actor admits that working with Joson anew made filming a tad easier as because they communicate openly.

As to rumors that he is willing to go sexy in his next project, de Leon said, “Mas tututukan ko kung makakatanggap ako ng break ang istorya. Sa ngayon thankful po ako sa Viva. Alam po nila kung ano ang gusto ko. Alam po nila kung saan ako ililinya. Nasa kanila naman po iyon.”

(I will focus more on the story if I am given a break. I am now thankful to Viva. They know what I want. They know where they would put me in. It is up to them.)

“Habangbuhay,” directed by Real Florido, will start streaming via Vivamax on April 22. JB
