While many still anticipate the public release of their SS22 550 collab which was teased last month, New Balance and Aimé Leon Dore return with a new 650R drop. The shoe features the collaboration’s signature mesh-leather clash on the upper resting upon the outsole, four fresh colorways, and a nostalgic high-top silhouette.
“The shoe oozes cozy vibes, and I’m talking aesthetically and physically. The 650R’s plush high-top ankle appears to supply immense comfort, while the shoe’s EVA cupsole guarantees support during a daily flex or game time,” reports Highsnobiety editor Morgan Smith.

This new drop also comes just in time for the collaboration’s Masarysk Community Gym, which featured a mural by Jacob Rochester to officially announce its launch last April 17. In a post by Aimé Leon Dore, the brand elaborated their newest venture with the Toronto-based community recreation center, stating “In collaboration with the Masaryk community, ALD and New Balance will lead community-focused programming and initiatives through the game of basketball. The gym will be a place where Masaryk residents, the Lower East Side community, and NYC youth can come to improve their game, compete, and interact with each other through sport-specific programming.”
