Actress and celebrity mom LJ Reyes has come to realize the many factors that make motherhood truly an exciting journey.
Reyes, a single mom, reflected on motherhood just in time for Mother’s Day in the United States, where she is currently based with her kids, as per her Instagram page today, May 9. She shared photos of herself with her children, Aki and Summer.
“Paano nga ba maging isang magulang? Paano nga ba magdesisyon para sa buhay ng iba? (How does one become a parent? How does one make choices for the lives of others?)” she asked. “Carried them inside your body for [nine] months, will be taking care of them [’til] they can stand on their own, but you never really stop ‘taking care’ of them.”
Reyes pointed out several issues about raising a child, explaining that there appears to be no hard and fast rules when it comes to parenting.
“Wala naman handbook for parents. Wala naman iisang tamang paraan kung paano maging magulang (There is no handbook for parents. There is no one right way to be a good parent),” she said. “There could be a lot of things that [are] uncertain and not ideal, but one thing remains certain and true — that LOVE would hold you altogether.”
Reyes acknowledges the many “ups and downs” in parenting. But what is more important to her is to make her children feel her love “in every sense of the word.”

“Like how I would always tell them, home is where we are together. At sila lang ang kelangan ko (and they are all I need) to keep me going,” she stressed.
Reyes also spoke about her faith and how she gets to “experience God’s love through them,” her kids.
“Cheers to all the amazing mommas! Happy Mother’s Day!” she said, noting that the last photo in the series was a “screenshot of this cute greeting from these sweet kids while I was at work.” Aki typed the words “Happy Mothers Day Mom” and accompanied it with a photo of himself and his baby sister Summer.
Aki is Reyes’ son with actor Paulo Avelino while Summer is her daughter with actor Paolo Contis. JB
