Young actor KD Estrada has toiled long and hard for years before getting into showbiz, the reason why he finds as surreal his and Alexa Ilacad’s launch as a love team.
“Kasi naaalala ko dati, when I was young, parang nakikita ko lang ang kasama ko ngayon sa TV. I never thought na magiging artista ako. Seeing myself on the huge screen with Alexa, grabe, I made it this far,” Estrada said during the live face-to-face press conference and celebrity screening for the new iWantTFC’s original series “Run To Me.”
(It is because I remember that before, when I was young, it is like I just used to watch my co-star whom I am with now on TV. I never thought I would be an actor. Seeing myself onscreen with Alexa, it is great, I made it this far.)
The two were initially housemates in the “Pinoy Big Brother” Kumunity Season 10 but are now popularly called KDLex. As a love team, Estrada also does not believe in competing with other tandems.
“I just wanna say na I don’t see other love teams as competition kasi iba naman kami ni Alexa (because we’re different),” he said. But he and Ilacad are ready to “grow bigger” and the series is just the start.
Have they leveled up as love team partners?
“We see each other as partner material talaga (really) for long term. But right now, especially with our busy career, with our busy schedule, we don’t want to put a label. It’s gonna be high maintenance but I don’t mind maintaining her,” he said.
“I don’t know what’s gonna happen in the future. None of us know. But yes, Alexa is very, very girlfriend material. Gusto ko lang sabihin na alam ko na (I just want to say that I know) whatever happens, Alexa, she’s very important in my journey,” he added.
Directed by Dwein R. Baltazar, “Run to Me” is produced by ABS-CBN Entertainment, Dreamscape Entertainment, iWantTFC and Kumu. The series also stars Malou Crisologo, CJ Navato, Karl Gabriel, Ivan Carapiet, Margaux Montana, Henz Villaraiz, Matty Juniosa and Haira Palaguitto.
The series will be available on Kumu beginning on May 20 and on iWantTFC on May 21, at 8 p.m. (Manila time), with a new episode dropping every Saturday. JB
