Election season is here, and our streets are going to be filled yet again with tacky, cheesy, election-related promo material. But there are some special cases of posters we do like. Yesterday, an anonymous person hung an eye-catching tarpaulin on the EDSA overpass near QC. It had the faces of senatorial hopefuls like former PNP chief Ronald Dela Rosa, SAP Bong Go, and the former president Gloria Arroyo. The price of their stolen cash from the Filipino people is also posted, alongside these words in bold: “TAMA NA ANG PAGPAPANGGAP, DUTERTE CORRUPT.”
Now, that’s how you run a guerrilla anti-campaign scheme.
The tarpaulin has made its rounds in social media yesterday. It’s found in the overpass along EDSA, somewhere in Quezon City where it greeted passengers and commuters around the area. No one exactly knows who the owner of the alleged tarp is. It’s also unknown to us if the tarpaulin is still hung up on the overpass or if it has been taken down.
Regardless of the tarp’s status, the Facebook page “Silent No More Ph” has acquired a soft copy free for everyone to use. Just in case it gets taken down by any officials.
Images and movements like these are exactly the vigilance we need during this campaign season. Let this tarp be one of the first acts of anti-campaigning we see in these recent months. Let them know that we have not forgotten their actions. We know of their past, their illegal actions, and their actual plans.

Next thing we can do is to act and to use our rights to vote for capable leaders. So go ahead, share the photo of the tarp around in your own circles. Awareness is the trait we need the most during election season—not false promises.
