Actress Shaina Magdayao realized what she had lost after not practicing yoga for quite some time. Now, she’s back into it and is feeling even better than before.
“Ten years ago, I was a regular #vinyasayoga practitioner,” Magdayao said in her Instagram post, last November 24, as she shared with her followers a slew of yoga exercises.
“I don’t remember why I stopped but I’m pretty sure its also because I had too much faith in my joints and body… without proper workout, food, stretching, recovery, sleep etc (hellew gimik days, recklessness and YOUTH),” she recalled.
Magdayao said she was diagnosed with hypothyroidism when she was about 25 or 26 years old.
With that, she has “spent the last few years recovering, accepting and observing my body.”
“I slowwwwly (and reluctantly at first) made major lifestyle changes — self-care, becoming a #pescatarian for 4 years, prioritizing sleep and rest, quality food intake, MINDFULNESS and regular sweat sessions,” she said.
She likewise expressed gratitude to an unlikely ally. “Thanks, #pandemic for the great RESET,” she said with three bandaged heart emoji. “This time though, I have learned that it’s not about #perfection but all about the intention, effort and being #compassionate with my body, healing and journey.”
The actress also made a promise to take good care of her mind and body better as not everyday is a good day.
“Promised myself to take care of my mind and body better. Not everyday is a good day, k? I struggle too and still a work in progress,” she admitted.
Now, she’s been practicing yoga for three months as she needed flexibility since she’s making a return to the dancefloor soon.
“And so I am back on the mat… almost every day. Grateful for a healthy mind and body,” she said. EDV
