Athlete-turned-TV host Gretchen Ho honored her deceased father as her family welcomed the New Year.

In her Instagram post on January 1, Ho shared a photo and a short video of her father when he was still alive.

“No New Year or Christmas will ever be the same, so I’m choosing to honor your life in this last day of 2022,” Ho said in her post.

Ho’s father, James Ho, died from cardiac arrest last November 18, 2022.

“We will miss you dad, and always remember you celebrating with us in every way. You loved Christmases and New Years. Cheers to your life. Ho! Ho! Ho!,” she said.

Ho explained that the video she shared was “of my dad meeting my spiritual director @rjpway.”

“He seemed “starstruck” meeting him for the first time as Father Robbie blessed my brother’s clinic! This was about 2 to 3 months before he passed. I’m grateful he had the chance to be prayed over,” she said.

In another post on the same day, Ho recalled the things she did as she was “taking (her) own sweet time to process the year that was, to clean out the closets, dust off the floor, open every letter, and savor every memory.”

In another photo, Ho is shown holding a cup of coffee. “May every cup of coffee you take in the coming year bring you ease and joy, and may you find pockets of peace in the every day. It’s always up to us to fill our own cups with a sense of adventure!!” she said.

“Cheers to closing out 2022, and here’s to welcoming a fresh year in 2023,” she greeted the year. EDV
