The Embassy of the Czech Republic recently launched a book on Czech-Philippine cultural and diplomatic relations, highlighting the shared heritage between the two countries. The event, held at Raffles Makati, was attended by senior government officials and diplomats. Czech Republic Ambassador Jana Šedivá expressed gratitude to the writers involved and emphasized the book’s aim to recall our shared history and envision a common future between the Czech Republic and the Philippines.
Titled “Kaibigan-Přátelé: Czech-Philippine Cultural and Diplomatic Dialogue,” the book is a collaboration between Czech and Filipino writers and scholars—coedited by Dr. Ambeth Ocampo, with book design by the award-winning Ige Ramos, and Dalibor Mička, deputy head of mission of the Czech Embassy.
Dr. Ocampo remarked on the excitement of working on the project, despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, and expressed hope that both Czech and Filipino communities would remember and celebrate the friendship between the two nations.
