Princess for a day | Lifestyle.INQ

GUESTS get a free tutorial on how to do day and night makeup.

“Good morning, princess!”

That is the greeting one gets upon entering an Etude House boutique. Etude House, a Korean brand famous for makeup and skincare products, is known for treating their clients like royalty. On top of being addressed as royalty in their boutiques, one is also followed around by a personal shopper who helps choose the right products.

This is why I was ecstatic when I was invited to the Etude House Pink Fair 2012 held at SM North Edsa’s The Block Atrium last April 22. I thought, what girl wouldn’t want to be treated like a princess, even for just a day?

The Atrium was decorated like a dollhouse: There was a ballerina in a life-sized music box, a photobooth that was decorated like a glamorous living room, and in the middle of it all, a makeover area where Etude House employees worked to beautify the guests.

Everything was in pink, Etude House’s signature color. Guests were treated to sumptuous food. The venue itself was enough to make anyone feel like royalty.

The program taught guests how to take care of their skin and feel beautiful. Jeanne Harn, Miss Earth 2007 and host of the evening, said:  “Every princess has her own way of taking care of her skin.” With talks by Boram Kim and Younhee Kang of Etude House, and Levenson Rodriguez of Fashion Academy Manila, guests were taught proper skin care regimens, how to prevent and treat acne, and the basics of power dressing.

There were also games to entertain the guests and the makeover booth, where all guests could be treated to a free facial and makeover by Etude House. It was here where I was approached by Dony Yi of Etude House, asking me if I was willing to get made up on stage. I agreed, and they began to prepare me.

ONE of the main attractions was the “pink bug” with its long eyelashes.

After this, I was told to take a seat. About half an hour after, they approached me and told me that due to the lack of time, I couldn’t be accommodated. My disappointment was evident, so they immediately offered to give me a makeover after the program. I begged off, telling them that I had to leave immediately. They insisted on giving me a makeover, but I kept turning them down. I was embarrassed by the situation. Determined to make it up to me, they offered their number, telling me that I could claim my makeover any time.

Although I was a disappointed, it was still very thoughtful of them to offer me their services.  I realized that the people from Etude House really do their part to fulfill their roles in making their clients feel like princes and princesses.

Many companies claim that their “customer is king,” but I have never known any other company that has taken that to heart the way Etude House has. I truly felt special that day. If anyone wants to experience feeling like royalty, head over to Etude House and you won’t regret it.
