You can now franchise National Book Store | Lifestyle.INQ

OCTOBER 27, 2022

After 76 years of operating in the country, National Book Store (NBS) now opens one of its concepts for franchising.

“This year, we’re starting a new chapter. We’re opening doors and opportunities for potential business partners. We’re opening NBS Express for franchise,” says Sandra Ramos-Padilla, managing director of the country’s largest book and school supplies store, at the Franchise Asia Philippines 2018 on Jul. 18.

For almost eight decades, only members of the founder’s family were able to handle the business operation. Ramos-Padilla is the granddaughter of founder Socorro Ramos, also known as Nanay Coring.

NBS Express is smaller than the full-store format of the bookstore with only 200 sq. m., half of the usual floor area of NBS found in malls. It mostly offers school and office supplies. The books they carry are only 10 percent of the inventory. This setup provides customers with NBS’ best-selling items, says Ramos-Padilla.

Since it’s the first time the Ramos family is opening their brainchild to others, Ramos-Padilla is looking for “active entrepreneurs, those who can look into the business like it’s their own.”

The franchise, which is good for 10 years, requires a minimum investment fee of P6.4 million. This already includes construction and equipment.
