Cameras were out as seventeen rows of models emerged from beneath the stage at the Dior Homme Summer 2024 show at Paris’s Ecole Militaire.

Foregoing the traditional line down the catwalk, models were slowly elevated from mechanized lifts that emerged from the square panels on the runway. The viewing experience was transformed as the full 51-look collection was presented in a single go. Cool white lighting illuminated the shiny gray paneled stage which evoked the futuristic interiors of “A Space Odyssey.”

In attendance were celebrities Demi Moore, Gwendoline Christie, and Offset. The brand’s newest ambassadors Mile Phakphum Romsaithong and Nattawin Wattanagitiphat also made a front-row appearance.

Five years in, Dior’s creative director for menswear Kim Jones, aimed to pay homage to the creative directors who came before him. Woven within the textiles were the “embroideries of Gianfranco Ferré” as well as ”the textures of Marc Bohan.” Men’s suits showed relaxed silhouettes reminiscent of the early days of Yves Saint Laurent at Dior.

Dior’s signature cannage quilt in tweed and knits, flower motifs, intricate embellishments, and pops of neon stood out against the collection’s predominantly neutral palette. According to Jones, the stage was meant to convey an abstract garden. Donning Stephen Jones‘s Phrygian-shaped hats decorated with velvet flowers designed by Cecile Feilchenfeldt the models rose from the ground like blossoming flowers. This references back to Christian Dior himself, whose work was inspired by the lush gardens in his childhood home in Normandy, France.

The selection of bags came in the form of saddles and backpacks for a range of summer activities. The vessels were made in various textiles from jacquard, knits, cannage, and printed tweed. Chunky soled loafers were revealed in tweed, fluorescent-yellow crocodile, and leather, buckled with a new circular logo that takes from the charms that hang on the Lady Dior bag.
