Gcash Visa Card

GCash, the Philippines’ leading finance super app, has joined forces with global payment leader Visa to revolutionize payments for all Filipinos with the launch of the new GCash Card.

This innovative payment card, seamlessly linked to users’ GCash wallets, is set to transform the way Filipinos make payments, offering convenience, more deals, discounts, and access to an expanded network of merchants both locally and internationally.

With the launch of the GCash Card, Filipinos can now have access to opportunities and possibilities of having another cashless payment option wherever they may be. This will benefit consumers who have no bank accounts or documents typically needed to apply for a credit card or those who have informal sources of income like freelancers and independent professionals with micro or small enterprises.

Customers can use the GCash Card securely for online and in-store shopping, as well as for their everyday needs such as groceries, dining, and transportation. Users can also use the card to withdraw cash from ATMs.

Through this partnership with Visa, the card offers numerous features tailored to enhance users’ payment experiences, highlighted by more convenience. These features include:

  1. Tap to Pay

The “Tap to Pay” feature of the GCash Card enables users to enjoy faster, contactless payments by simply tapping on payment terminals accepting Visa. This functionality is available at both local and international merchants, enhancing the overall shopping experience for Filipinos, even those abroad.

  1. Expanded Merchant Network

The new GCash Card may be used across all merchants and retail outlets that accept credit or debit cards, making payments effortless especially in places where online transactions are not available.

Additionally, having access to more merchants also means users enjoy access to a wider array of deals and discounts, as GCash Card holders can enjoy Visa-exclusive promos, further enhancing their payment experience.

  1. Better Exchange Rates and International Acceptance

The GCash Card gives travelers the advantage of real time Forex charging at low exchange rates and no service fees. This enables travelers to enjoy hassle-free shopping and dining experiences wherever they may be.

With broad international acceptance, the GCash Card allows users to make secure and convenient payments in over 200 countries and territories at more than 80 million Visa-accepting merchants worldwide.

Ren-Ren Reyes, President and CEO of G-Xchange, Inc. (GXI), expressed his excitement about the partnership, saying, “Visa is one of the most trusted and respected names in the global payments industry, and GCash users will benefit immensely from Visa’s decades of experience and industry-leading innovation, security, and network access. We are extremely excited to work with them to develop this user-focused payments product.”

Visa Country Manager for the Philippines and Guam, Jeff Navarro, shared, “We are delighted to collaborate with GCash in offering the GCash Card to Filipinos everywhere, which we believe is a step towards enhancing financial inclusivity. The card’s contactless feature facilitates convenient and secure shopping, joining millions worldwide who have embraced tapping to pay for their shopping, dining, and travel needs.”

All it takes is for a GCash user to be verified via the app so they can apply for their own Visa-powered GCash Card through the app, without additional documents or approvals.

Users who have availed of the GCash Card will also have access to GInsure, where they can get free insurance of up to Php20,000 coverage for unauthorized transactions for the first 30 days after activation. This also includes the Php185 price for card replacement in the event of accidental loss or damage to the card, as well as the shipping fee of up to Php225.

To order, users can open their GCash app, go to “View all”, and find the “Manage” section. Click on “Cards” and tap “Order a GCash Card”. To know more, visit GCash at www.new.gcash.com/services/cards.
