Filipinos’ fascination for the Japanese way of living is easy to understand.

That’s because the much admired—even globally renowned—Japanese lifestyle not only celebrates simplicity and functionality but also cherishes the art of mindful living.

It inspires many to commune with their natural surroundings, have a sense of order and discipline, lead a more active lifestyle, and create nurturing environments where the entire community can harmoniously connect and thrive. At the same time, the Japanese are known to be at the forefront of innovative technologies that help enhance the quality of life, even as they remain to have deep respect for their centuries-old tradition and rich heritage.

Such a lifestyle is aptly reflected in Japanese architecture, design, and landscapes—in how they build their homes, communities, and cities. For instance, Japanese aesthetics are mostly built on the principles of simplicity and minimalism. This gained popularity globally, as the notion that “less is more” is believed to lead not only to clean living spaces but also to a decluttered mindset, thus promoting a sense of peace and tranquility.

Embodying a lifestyle

It won’t be long, however, before many Filipinos will get to embrace and embody that famed Japanese lifestyle.

Federal Land NRE Global Inc. (FNG)—a strategic partnership between Federal Land Inc. and Japan’s Nomura Real Estate Development Co. Ltd.—is introducing to the local market a distinct brand of residences that will not only bring in Japanese features but will also offer a better, more modern lifestyle well suited to today’s urban dwellers.

In a briefing last August, FNG vice chairman Yusuke Hirano said that Nomura Real Estate would strive to create new value in its real estate projects in the Philippines. FNG projects will thus bear the hallmarks of Japanese culture, ingenuity, and innovation, which will be fittingly integrated with Filipino tastes and preferences.

Conducive, harmonious settings

One can thus expect FNG’s up-and-coming developments to be smart, nature-oriented, and human-centric—contemporary sanctuaries and hubs of innovation that offer conducive, harmonious settings to live, work, play, and learn.

Among these would be The Observatory in Mandaluyong City and Yume, which will rise within the 600-ha Riverpark in Cavite province.

The Observatory will be a strategically located 4.5-ha masterplanned mixed-use development that brings new value to the existing urban landscape by featuring 40 percent open space, Japanese design ingenuity, and unobstructed views of the BGC skyline at the South.

Strategically located at the true center of Metro Manila, this promising FNG community will place residents at the heart of three major central business districts (CBD) namely Makati (4.3 km), Bonifacio Global City (3.4 km) and Ortigas Center (2.5 km). Nearby are key establishments and institutions including medical facilities, schools, and places of worship, as well as commercial complexes, pocket parks, and leisure hubs—a proximity valued in today’s times.

The Observatory will be home to residential towers offering studios, one- to three-bedroom units, and the more expansive penthouse units; an office building; as well as curated retail spaces—all providing scenic views either of the city or of the Pasig River. The first residential building, Sora Tower, offers a wide range of configurations namely studios with sizes starting at 28 sqm to 33.5 sqm; one-bedroom units, from 45.5 sqm to 61.5 sqm; two-bedroom cuts, from 65 sqm to 87 sqm in size; and the more expansive three-bedroom residences from 137 sqm to 148 sqm. At launch, unit prices will range from P8.7 million for the studios to P49.2 million for the three-bedroom units.

Meanwhile, Yume, which means dream or vision in Japanese, will be a sprawling 18-ha residential neighborhood within Federal Land’s Riverpark Community in General Trias, Cavite, seamlessly integrating urban conveniences and suburban tranquility. As FNG’s inaugural project in this province, Yume aims to be a unique Japanese-inspired nurturing neighborhood that offers the perfect setting for families to grow and thrive.

A total of 296 lots, with sizes ranging from 300 sqm to 527 sqm,  will be made available, thus offering ample spaces for growing families to move about. A host of amenities will also give future residents areas where they can relax, unwind, and connect with the rest of the community, while enabling them to lead an enriching, fulfilling lifestyle.

These promising mixed-use developments by FNG will no doubt open the door to a cross-cultural experience, allowing residents to savor and indulge in the beautiful fusion of Japanese lifestyle and Filipino sensibilities.
