Ann Dumaliang, managing trustee of the Masungi Georeserve Foundation Inc., recently made an impact at the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting 2024 in Davos, Switzerland, last Jan. 15 to Jan. 19.Dumaliang joined an elite group of more than 300 global influencers and over 60 heads of state and government, along with 800-plus prominent CEOs and chairs, at the meeting.

As a key participant, Dumaliang moderated an enlightening panel discussion on Intergenerational Wisdom featuring esteemed wildlife conservationist Jane Goodall, Global Shaper Marie-Claire Graf, and Xiye Bastida, founder of the Re-Earth Initiative. This panel highlighted the critical role of wisdom passed through generations in shaping a sustainable future.

Dumaliang joined high-level discussions with global leaders on critical areas such as climate action, sustainable development and landscape restoration. She emphasized, “Frontline environmental defenders, particularly from the Philippines, possess indispensable insights essential for addressing the climate crisis. It’s a privilege to share the Masungi story with an international audience, sparking a wave of inspiration and catalyzing urgent action for ecosystem restoration across the globe. Our participation is more than just a narrative—it’s about bringing to light the unique challenges faced by the Masungi Georeserve. Highlighting these struggles underscores the necessity for authentic engagement and collaboration between civil society and decision-makers.”

These partnerships reinforce the global commitment to the UN Decade of Ecosystem Restoration and transcend international borders.

Gathering under the banner “Rebuilding Trust,” this year’s meeting aimed to foster dialogue, cooperation and partnerships addressing vital global issues such as economic growth, climate and nature action, energy security, technology governance and human development.
