Art Fair Philippines is back for its 11th year, here’s what you should keep in mind
Mark your calendars, Art Fair Philippines is coming back to The Link Carpark in Makati, from February 16 to 18, 2024
From specially curated exhibitions by renowned local and international artists to conceptual displays and specialized events, there is a lot to look forward to this week. But as you prepare for the 11th edition of the country’s biggest art fair, here are some things to remember.
What to keep an eye out for
As always, there will be a range of exhibitors consisting of the country’s top galleries, from Silverlens and Altromondo to Modeka, to name a few. There will also be a wide roster of foreign galleries from Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Spain, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam, as well as exhibitors in the Metaverse.
At ArtFairPH/Projects, works by Jonathan Ching, Jigger Cruz, Gean Brix Garcia, Rod Paras-Perez, Mr. StarCity, Romanian conceptual artist Andreea Medar, and Spanish artist Eugenio Ampudia will be featured in a special exhibition space by production designer and theater director Ed Lacson.
The special exhibit, Pambabae, which aims to reappraise and highlight the contribution of Filipina women modernists is also one to watch out for. The exhibition will span the years 1969 to 1989 and features the likes of Ivi Avellana Cosio, Ileana Lee, Nelfa Querubin, Evelyn Collantes, Phyllis Zaballero, and Lilian Hwang.

Art Fair Philippines 2024 also celebrates the 10th anniversary of the Karen H. Montinola (KHM) Selection, a grant given by the Montinola family for emerging Filipino artists.
The 2024 grant was awarded to Gean Brix Garcia.
To commemorate the special milestone of the grant, there will also be an exhibit curated by art consultant Norman Crisologo, featuring recipients of the grant begun in 2014, namely: Pio Abad (2014), Mike Adrao (2015), Mac Valdezco (2016), Mark Valenzuela (2017), Alvin Zafra (2018), Liv Vinluan (2019), Carlo Villafuerte (2021), Melvin Guirhem (2022), and Faye Abantao (2023).

Rather than watch, talk about film instead at NO SHOWING, a project curated by filmmaker Moira Lang, co-presented by Archivo Gallery and Club Kino.
The specialized event is described as “a hangout/speakeasy/watering hole/listening party/dance floor/breathing space for filmmakers and filmgoers to weigh, diagnose, and compare notes and remedies on the state of movie making and moviegoing in the Philippines. It is an event as well as a concept, a festival-not of screenings, but of conversations–over beer, with music by selected filmmakers playing just loud enough to talk and to listen to one another.”
Also expect local fashion designers to make an appearance, with PHx Station’s apparel collections from Bagasáo, Jude Macasinag, Le Ngok, and more on Booth 7 of the 4th floor.

Where to get your tickets?
Fair tickets can be purchased in advance at www.artfairphilippines.com. Tickets will also be available at the 4th Floor reception of Art Fair Philippines from February 16 to 18.
Regular tickets, available for Php 750.00, will provide visitors access to exhibitions by participating galleries from the Philippines and overseas and all ArtFairPH sections including ArtFairPH/Projects, ArtFairPH/Photo, ArtFairPH/Digital, ArtFairPH/Residencies Exhibit, and the ArtFairPH/Talks Program.

Concession and discounted tickets for students, PWD, and senior citizens are also available on-site, priced at Php 500.00. Meanwhile, tickets will cost Php 300.00 for Makati students.
How to get there?
The three-day fair can be accessed from Parkway Drive and the bridgeway from the third floor of Landmark.
For those taking the MRT, Ayala Station is 700 meters away and approximately a 9-minute walk.
Busses also arrive at Rustan’s Glorietta, 500 meters away, approximately a 7-minute walk (Via Buendia), and at the Ayala Station MRT stop.
Drivers can also park their vehicles at the 6750 Building, Glorietta 3 Basement, and Rustan’s Steel Parking.

There are a total of three (3) tours available, each scheduled daily from 11:00 AM to 12:00 NN.
The guided tour is complimentary for all Art Fair Philippines ticket holders. It can accommodate a maximum of twenty (20) participants, first come, first served.

10 Days of Art: Art around Makati
Can’t get enough of art? Venture outside The Link carpark and experience a series of installations around the Makati Central Business District.
The selection of public art will be featured in two locations.
Along Ayala Avenue, at the Tower One Fountain area, Derek Tumala presents A Warm Orange-Colored Liquid, his biggest and most ambitious work to date.
On the Green Wall of Ayala Triangle Garden Tower 2, Isaiah Cacnio, in collaboration with digital artists AJ Dimarucot and Carlos, present Prismatic Embrace.
