Despite the heat, these must-visits from Sentosa Island, Singapore’s resort destination, will surely satisfy your wanderlust

Summer has not been kind to Metro Manila. Temperatures are pushing close to 40°C, exacerbating the humidity and pollution in the city. It’s this kind of heat that makes us want to escape to a bonafide summer destination like Sentosa Island in Singapore. Here’s why Singapore’s resort island should be your next vacation destination.

This 30,000 square-meter walkway embodies what it means to revel in the journey rather than the destination. Sentosa Sensoryscape cuts perpendicular to Sentosa Island, connecting the local Resorts World in the north to the numerous beaches down south. Whereas traveling through the island once entailed riding the shuttle or the cable car, Sensoryscape offers a walkable alternative.

Designed by Serie + Multiply, Sensoryscape also houses several smaller attractions: Lookout Loop, Tactile Trellis, Scented Sphere, Symphony Streams, Palate Playground, and Glow Garden. Each corresponds to a specific sense and at night, are enriched by both interactive digital light art and augmented reality for an added audio-visual experience.

“This thoughtfully designed and welcoming green connector right at the heart of Sentosa will inspire our guests through a plethora of endless and unique discoveries. We look forward to welcoming guests from Singapore and all around the world to Sensoryscape, where a walk in Sentosa will never be the same again,” said Thien Kwee Eng, chief executive officer of the Sentosa Development Corporation.

The Palawan

From floating aqua parks to an 18-hole beachside mini golf course, The Palawan offers a family-friendly experience.

For kids looking to channel their inner Lewis Hamilton, HyperDrive is Asia’s first indoor gamified electric go-kart circuit. You can even play a real-life version of Mario Kart. Elsewhere, Splash Tribe is a beach club with a sandcastle-themed play zone and an infinity-edge pool perfect for family fun. After a day of running around, catch your breath and fill up at the Palawan Food Trucks for a gastronomic tour.

Atop The Outpost Hotel, 1-Altitude Coast is an adult-exclusive rooftop day-to-night club with a restaurant, al fresco deck, and infinity pool. The first F&B concept to occupy a luxury hotel’s entire rooftop also overlooks Palawan Beach, the Singapore Straits, and the rest of Sentosa Island.

Singapore Cable Car

Three cable car lines originate from the vicinity surrounding Sensoryscape: one leading to Siloso Point in the west, the second leading to VivoCity (the largest shopping mall in Singapore), and the third to Mount Faber Peak

Going end to end can take up to 10 minutes, with queues lasting over 20 minutes when crowded.

Be warned though that on the hottest days, sitting in the cable car might be akin to roasting yourself in an oven. Nonetheless, with the best sight of Sentosa Island, it is a worthwhile transportation option for those looking to take a break from walking.
