The It-Bag You’ve Never Heard Of | Lifestyle.INQ

OCTOBER 27, 2022

It all started with a bucket bag. A casual silhouette created by bag designers, legend has it that the shape was intended for transporting champagne bottles to picnics, hence the name.

But when New York-based handbag label Mansur Gavriel first launched their version in 2012, it stopped the fashion set dead in their tracks. Crafted in the finest Italian leather in Veneto, Italy, it was clear that the new cool girl’s bag had arrived with its clean lines, minimalist design, and pop of interior color. But the most coveted detail of all? Nary a label logo in sight.

Now that the brand has gained some traction, the small company founded by two women is besieged with pre-orders, a waiting list, and several calls from stockists not just in the US, but in Canada, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. Unfortunately, Asia only extends so far as Australia and New Zealand. Boo.

But hey, that’s why online shopping was invented. Get your Mansur Gavriel fix on Moda Operandi or Net-A-Porter. No promises with that waiting list, though.
