Even eight-year-olds can join this film competition

OCTOBER 27, 2022

Filmmaking has become much more accessible now. If you ask a teenager in the ’80s, they would say otherwise. Thanks to current technology and video sharing platforms, anyone can shoot videos through their smartphones, edit them together on their computer, or maybe even through an app on their phone and share them on YouTube. It’s that fast and easy.

With this accessibility, the International School of Manila presents the second annual Manila Student Film Festival. The event encourages students to exercise their creativity and share their stories through moving images.

Manila Student Film Festival is open to students from all over the Philippines. The competition is divided by age groups: 19- to 21-year-old students can submit seven-minute films, 15- to 18-year-olds and 12- to 14-year-olds are expected to submit five-minute films, and 8- to 11-year-old students can also join with three-minute films. Yes, eight-year-old students can enter the contest.

If you have made a film in the last 12 months, you can revisit it, maybe do some edits, and submit it. Otherwise, you can make an entirely new short film either solo or with your group of friends. Just make sure you follow the rules.

Submit your entries until Dec. 2, and finalists will be screened on Jan. 16, 2019 at International School of Manila’s Fine Arts Theater.

Now, get that camera and show the world what you see. Find more information here.
