After the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board prohibited Angkas from operations late last year, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) just approved the pilot operations of motorcycle taxis in partnership with Angkas. This means we can ride Angkas again without fear—and without resorting to lies about our “kinship” with motorcycle riders.
Yeah, boi. Even Angkas is excited for their return.

According to DOTr, the implementation of pilot operations of Angkas and motorcycle taxis will begin on June 8 and last for six months. This is part of DOTr’s technical working group’s study on the legalization of motorcycle taxis. As of now, the Republic Act 4136 or the Land Transportation and Traffic Code prohibits motorcycles from being used as public utility vehicle.
This is indeed a good day for commuters in Metro Manila and Metro Cebu.
