Ed Sheeran, the adorable singer behind “Shape of You” and “Castle on the Hill” is about to see some real castles… at least on TV. He’s confirmed to be a guest star on Game of Thrones.
This comes after the show’s co-creators David Beniof and Dan Weiss made the announcement at South by Southwest Music Festival over the weekend. Ed is set to appear on the 7th season of Game of Thrones. What his role will be, however, has yet to be revealed.
Part of the reason for Ed’s appearance is how Maisie Williams, who plays Arya Stark on the show, is a fan of the singer. “We knew that Maisie [Williams] was a big fan of Ed Sheeran. So, for years we tried to get Ed on the show so we could surprise Maisie, and we finally did it, ” Dan said.
Ed has been reported to be a fan of the show and has previously been spotted hanging out with the cast members. He’s got the beard right for the show’s aesthetic. As for the its dark and even murderous theme, Ed might have to tone done the smiling and the love songs a lot.
