After bagging the title as the highest-grossing Filipino indie film and earning a spot as one of this generation’s most iconic rom-coms, “Kita Kita” is making its way to an Indonesian adaptation.
“Kita Kita” director Sigrid Bernando took to Instagram to announce the Indonesian remake, sharing her teary-eyed reaction (she’s not alone in this!).

The adaptation, titled “Cinta Itu Buta (Love is Blind),” is set in Busan, South Korea, instead of Sapporo, Japan. However, the Indonesian film will stick close to the original plot, following the serendipitous connection of a visually-impaired woman and her neighbor, who guides her through the temporary blindness.

Get your tissues ready, Indonesian audiences, as “Cinta Itu Buta” premieres in cinemas this Oct. 10. While we’re waiting for the remake’s Philippine release, “Kita Kita” is already available on a Netflix screen near you.
