See All the Designs from Virgil Abloh’s Newest Sportswear Collaboration | Lifestyle.INQ

OCTOBER 27, 2022

Sportswear giant Nike just announced their newest design project in collaboration with Virgil Abloh, the founder and creative director of streetwear label Off-White. Let that sentence sink in.

“The TEN” will feature Nike’s most iconic models and styles reimagined by Virgil. Think of the Air Jordan 1, Air Max 90, Zoom VaporFly, Air VaporMax, Nike-owned Converse Chuck Taylor All-Stars, and the Air Presto but seen in a different light. This all sounds like a dream come true for Virgil because as a young kid living in Rockford, Illinois, he and his friends would send Nike sketches of shoe ideas. Fast forward to today and they’re launching his work!

Virgil divided the collection into two themes: Revealing which shows a reconstructed feel to each shoe and cheeky placements of text like “SHOELACES” on the shoelace and “AIR” on the shoes that feature Nike’s Air technology. Under this first theme are the Nike Air Max 90, Nike Air VaporMax, Nike Air Presto, Nike Air Jordan 1, and the Nike Blazer. The second theme is Ghosting and the design consists of translucent uppers that that highlight’s Nike’s design system. Virgil designed the Nike Air Force 1 Low, Nike React Hyperdunk 2017, Nike Zoom VaporFly, Converse Chuck Taylor, and the Nike Air Max 97 under this theme.

Are you lusting over these pairs? Well, they’re making the first five icons available for pre-release at their NikeLab stores in NYC starting Sept. 9 to 13, London from Sept. 18 to 22, Milan from Sept. 21 to 25, and finally Paris from Sept. 26 to 30. Go ahead and book a ticket or ask your friends for a giant favor!
