While it’s always wise to heed your parents’ counsel, we’re willing to bet that you’re glad to have listened when they told you to save up for a rainy day. Manila is in for another wave of concerts this stormy season, with August promising an incredible rock feat: Three bands thundering in the Big Dome in a span of four days.
Pop vixen Nicki Minaj leads the pack with her “Pink Friday” tour heating up the SM Mall of Asia Arena on July 11 as a treat for Globe BlackBerry subscribers. There have been reports of a Gym Class Heroes concert at the Smart Araneta in August, but details have yet to be confirmed as of this writing. American alt-rock band The Fray rescheduled their Manila gig from June 21 to Nov. 10 and canceled their Cebu gig altogether—a blessing in disguise for many, we reckon, as it gives them ample time to save up after the gleefully devastating blow to their savings.
Meanwhile, the gig forecast for the “–ber” months is fast proving to rival August’s concert storm, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves; we’ll have plenty of time (and, hopefully, funds) for those soon enough. Stay tuned.
