More than 20 years later, is “White Chicks 2” finally making its way downtown?
If there was a movie that’s both widely loved by fans but disliked by critics, that would be the 2004 cult classic “White Chicks.”
Starring Marlon and Shawn Wayans and featuring inspired performances from Terry Crews (“Brooklyn Nine-Nine”) and Jennifer Carpenter (“The Exorcism of Emily Rose”), the film garnered a less-than-desirable 15 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes while raking in an impressive $113,086,475 at the box office.

Despite its initial reception, the film would go on to be a success on Blu-ray and more currently on streaming platforms due in part to its iconic moments that have enshrined themselves in pop culture history—from Crews’ stirring rendition of Vanessa Carlton’s “A Thousand Miles” to the Wayans brothers’ in-your-face portrayal of two socialite sisters. “White Chicks” was that campy 2000s comedy-turned-cult classic because of how unserious it took itself.
Now, over two decades later, it seems there’s a chance we’ll be getting a sequel.

During the 2025 NAACP Image Awards, Marlon Wayans told Good Morning America that a “White Chicks” follow-up was possible. “I think it’s time. So, you know, let’s get ‘Scary Movie 6’ done, and then we’re gonna go bring out the ‘White Chicks 2.'”
The Wayans brothers are currently working on “Scary Movie 6,” which is set to come out in 2026.
Unfortunately, despite the buzz generated by Marlon Wayans’ statement, he has since confirmed via Instagram that the “White Chicks” is not yet officially in the works. He wrote, “Not TRUE!!! But maybe ONE DAY” atop a Pubity article referring to his statement to GMA.
