If you find yourself staring at a blank page, struggling to put your thoughts into words, maybe it’s time to step away from words and turn to images instead. Art has a powerful way of offering new perspectives and igniting fresh ideas. Discover how this is done through ekphrasis—writing that vividly describes and interprets a piece of visual art.

In “Stories in Art,” a class organized by Women Writing, you will explore the deeper meanings behind paintings, sculptures, and other artistic works. By narrating and reflecting on the objects, scenes, and emotions captured in an artwork, you can amplify its significance or use it as inspiration to create an entirely new narrative. On Saturday, May 31, 2025, from 1:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Fundacion Sansó, Women Writing will be at Fundacion Sansó to host an afternoon of writing inspired by the art of Juvenal Sansó, Inday Cadapan, Mario Parial, and Michi Sotto. Fundacion Sansó’s executive director Ricky Francisco will take participants on a guided tour of the works on exhibit.
