Head over to Escolta this February and visit this museum for free | Lifestyle.INQ

OCTOBER 27, 2022

Best believe there’s always a reason to visit Escolta—from the Escolta block parties to the pop ups at Escolta Exchange, there are a lot of hidden gems lined along the historic street at any time of the year. This February is no exception.

This month, one of its community museums will be open for free in celebration of the 75th Anniversary of the Battle of Manila. Located in the heart of Escolta, the First United Building Community Museum is a well-preserved relic that has survived the Japanese and American occupation.

The museum actively takes part in the efforts to revitalize the historical street of Escolta. Upon entering the small community museum, you can feel its history etched on its very walls, now dignified with age. Dedicated to the late Sy Lion Teng, the museum exhibit contains multiple artefacts and objects that reflect the grandeur of 20th century Manila through the life of the patriarch.

Make sure to head out soon, because free admission will only be for the month of February. Don’t fret, because the museum is open every day for 24 hours. If you’re going to Manila this month, it’s definitely worth checking out.

The community museum is located at the mezzanine of the First United Building at 413 Escolta St, Binondo, Manila.
