Help shape the map of all bookstores and book-centric museums in the country | Lifestyle.INQ

OCTOBER 27, 2022

Have you ever wished that you could just open up a resource to find all the bookstores you can hit up in the country? I have. I grew up in a city that didn’t have a National Bookstore or any of the big bookstore chains, and just graced its first and only Booksale outlet like five years ago—and when I was younger I just took it as a fact that I’d have to take a two-hour long trip to the closest city to satiate my thirst for books. I now know that there were a few independent bookstores scattered around the city that I could’ve gone to, but I had no way of knowing that then.

For Buwan ng Panitikan ng Pilipinas, the National Book Development Board is holding their “Book Fiesta,” a month-long celebration of our local books. Part of this endeavor is their Book Stop Map project, which “aims to encourage Filipinos to include going to bookstores in their itinerary” by plotting out all the bookstores and book museums in the country.

To make the map as extensive as possible, they’re crowdsourcing information about all these book places. Anyone can submit information on independent bookstores (chain stores will have to be submitted by the owners themselves). If you know of any small time bookstores or museums, feel free to fill up the form here.
