Y’all know we love clothing that’s unafraid to be whimsical, unfiltered and inclusive. There are a lot of brands we’re digging right now, but here’s one doing it for the ghouls and the gays.
Cebu-based designer Shayne Lopez of Tiediet just launched their new brand headbedbaby, a whimsical spin on the queer and the occult.
Headbedbaby is all about Shayne’s queer expression, diving deeper into their feminine side after coming to terms with being non-binary and trans-feminine. As a child, they developed a love for art, drawing eyes until they evolved into “alien-like creatures” like the ghoulish illustrations now adorning the shirts of headbedbaby.
Like many artists, Shayne also felt insecure about their work for a long time. Being stuck in quarantine let them get back into creating, taking a lot of inspo from nature, fairies and witchcraft. We can see a lot in Shayne’s “more personal” designs for headbaby, repping the horror enthusiasts, the witchy bitches and their fellow LGBT sisters.
First up on headbaby’s line is the “yes homo bro” shirt, inspired by a guy Shayne used to like who often says “no homo bro” whenever their interactions get a little sweet.
“He was actually the one who encouraged me to do the shirts. So I told him about it, we both laughed, and poof! I drew my little headbedbaby creatures, slapped the ‘yes homo bro’ and printed. It felt right, honestly,” they said.
Right now, Shayne’s focused on growing the brand organically, and plans on creating different products like pillows, chairs, paintings and home decors.
