This ride-hailing app lets you donate books to children | Lifestyle.INQ

OCTOBER 27, 2022

Celebrating the National Literacy Month this September can go a long way like giving time to donate books to other people. Donating books can also mean changing one’s life as it is one way to impart knowledge, awareness, and values to others.

That’s why ride-hailing app Grab has launched “GrabBuklat,” an initiative to let passengers donate books to selected schools under non-profit organization Teach for the Philippines.

How does this work?

Those who want to donate can simply search for Grab Buklat on their Grab mobile app and set their pickup point. Type “Grab Buklat” as your destination and select the closest available drop-off point to you for the lowest fare.

Book specifications include storybooks and reference books for ages 6-10, young adult books for ages 10-16, and reference books for ages 13-16.

The total collected fares from the campaign will be used to purchase school supplies and selected books for the campaign’s school beneficiaries. This will run from Sept. 18 to 25 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Anyone who wishes to donate must note that the maximum total weight for delivery is 20 kg and will be carried out by Grab’s partner-rider motorcycles.
