Makò Micro-Press’ merch is a rallying cry against injustices - SCOUT

OCTOBER 27, 2022

Zine collective and human rights-focused arts group Makò Micro-Press has something new in store. It’s not a zine nor a workshop, but it’s an equally pounding statement.

On May 19, Makò replenished its online tindahan with new merchandise. Composed of shirts, caps, and stickers, these fresh drops burst with both striking visuals and strong calls to action—an important addition to their already creative roster of zines and prints.

“Zero tolerance to injustices,” says the muscle tee that comes in pink and white colorways. It has a cool tie-dye version too, which lists down forms of injustice on its backprint: homophobia, racism, the patriarchy and more. The apparel also includes “Bite Back” embroidered caps, alluding to “fight back” but from the POV of Makò’s mascot.

Besides progressive messages on clothing, the new collection showcases decals condemning fascists, colonizers, and imperialists. On the website, you can also find their first risograph-printed artwork—a community pantry poster in collaboration with Bad Student.
