Beginning next week, tourists can now spend more time exploring Fort Santiago. The Intramuros Administration announced that the historical site has adjusted its operating hours to accommodate more visitors.

On Jan. 13, Fort Santiago will now be open from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. The ticket gates will be open until 9 p.m., and the admission fees of P75 for adults and P50 for students, senior citizens, and PWDs will still apply.

Aside from extended operating hours, other parts of Intramuros such as the Likha-an: Lunduyan ng Tradisyonal na Sining at Kultura, the Philippine Presidents Gallery, and more are open to the public for free.

Built in 1593, Fort Santiago was a fortress built by Spanish governor Miguel López de Legazpi. It was declared a Shrine of Freedom in 1950, a National Shrine and National Monument since 1951, and a National Cultural Treasure in 2014.
