After opening two dormitories just last week in Cubao and Teacher’s Village in Quezon City, the Office of the Vice President (OVP) will be opening two more free dormitories in Manila for frontliners in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic.

According to a post from the official Facebook account of Vice President Leni Robredo on Wednesday Apr. 1, the third dormitory will be on Roxas Boulevard, at a location near the Manila Doctors Hospital and the Philippine General Hospital.
Whereas, the fourth dormitory will be in Sampaloc, Manila, at a location near a number of hospitals being the Mary Chiles Hospital, Ospital ng Sampaloc, Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center (extension), University of Santo Tomas Hospital and Perpetual Succor Hospital.
Bringing the total dormitories operated by the OVP in collaboration with their Angat Buhay Partners to four, the vice president also reassures that it will be open to all kinds of workers that are working on the frontlines of this pandemic saying: “Bukas po ang ating dorms para sa mga health workers, medical practitioners at iba pang frontliners tulad ng mga security guards, at iba pang volunteers sa mga programa kaugnay sa laban sa COVID-19.”
Although, due to limited space, the dormitories will once again be available on a “first-come, first-serve” basis. Interested persons can send their inquiries and information details such as their complete name, gender, the hospital or organization they work for, their position and work shift as well as their current home address to [email protected] or 0998-5917408.
Just this noon Apr. 2, the Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC) released a statement from PACC Commissioner Manuelito Luna requesting the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to probe Robredo for her actions that ‘compete with’ or ‘calculated to undermine’ government efforts on the coronavirus pandemic including OVP’s free shuttle service and dormitories for health workers, and PPEs for health workers.
The Vice-President’s spokesperson Atty. Barry Gutierrez has since released an official statement responding to the accusation. They questioned the “ridiculous, so inappropriate and out of touch” statement from PACC, explained the efforts done by the OVP along with partner organizations and states that “anyone who insists that bringing much needed assistance to hospitals, health workers, and poor Filipinos is somehow a ‘competition’ has absolutely no understanding of the gravity of the crisis we are all facing.”
